Mission: “To produce theatre with the talents of multidisciplinary artists who EDUCATE, ENLIGHTEN, AND ENTERTAIN society with the ideals of classical, contemporary, and original cutting edge works of art.”
BCKSEET’s Company Members write, compose, publicize, direct, design, perform, and teach.
EDUCATE
From its inception at Emerson College, BCKSEET considers education paramount in its mission. The Company continually strives to provide fledgling artists with career opportunities while developing programming to train Philadelphia’s next generation of professionals. The Company members constantly collaborate with outside artists, other theatre companies, and Universities in order to provide our audiences and students with the best theatre experience possible.
ENLIGHTEN
Tantamount to our education endeavors, BCKSEET collaborates with community organizations on each production in order to raise awareness and money for local causes. By selecting socially-important texts and linking their thematic elements to pertinent contemporary struggles, BCKSEET highlights the plight of those charities who have been strapped in the “backseat.”
ENTERTAIN
By immersing our audiences in the piece with original scores, atmospheric set design, and collaboration with community organizations, BCKSEET creates a unique theatrical experience. The Company transforms its space to compliment each show and explores new and old works with a contemporary lens to provide challenging, thought-provoking, and original seasons. |
